How safe is the beach for toddlers?+
Very family-friendly. The water by the shore is ankle-to-knee deep with a pebble-and-sand bottom and a gentle, gradual slope — and Kalymnos has plenty more shallow beaches like it, so families with children are spoilt for choice. Two things we always say: check on the spot whether a lifeguard is on duty at the beach you visit, and let children swim in the shallow sections only under a parent's watchful eye. With that simple care, the island is a paradise for little swimmers.

Where's the nearest supermarket?+
Three minutes walk in Massouri — full supermarket, two bakeries, fruit/veg shop, butcher.
Do we need a rental car?+
For a beach-focused family week: not really. A scooter or taxi covers the Telendos day trip and Vathy. To explore the whole of Kalymnos, hiring a car is the recommended way — though the choice, as always, is entirely yours.
